The MHC Circle is the Maine Humanities Council’s major donor group with a starting donor level of $1,000. Its purpose is to give the Council the ability to further expand its work all across Maine, reaching Mainers who do not ordinarily or easily have access to the humanities. We’re working hard to change the trend of Americans who don’t read, and our programs for incarcerated youth, newly-literate adults and child care providers, for example, take the power and pleasure of books, reading, and discussion to places where it may not often appear and really makes a difference. MHC Circle contributions help fund these programs. MHC Circle members receive advance notice of all events and special information about Council activities, publications, and projects. We use these contributions for programs only and thus offer no tangible benefits or membership services.
