Kennebec-Chaudière Corridor: A Cultural Heritage Tour October 5-8, 2007

Schedule:

Friday 10/5
11:00 a.m. - buses depart Portland (pick up locations—Augusta, Skowhegan, Jackman as needed) (bag lunches provided)
3:00 p.m. - arrive Jackman
3:30 p.m. - stop at Attean Overlook
4:00 p.m. - depart Jackman
5:00 p.m. - arrive St. Georges, optional petanque game
6:30 p.m. - arrive Auberge Arnold
7:30 p.m. - dinner followed by music program
Saturday 10/6
7:30 a.m. - breakfast in St. Georges
8:30 a.m. - Beuce tour — Church and Miniature Village
12:30 a.m. - lunch at Moose Point Tavern in Jackman
1:45 p.m. - POW Camp presentation by Middle School students at Jackman Historical Society (ten minute walk or short bus ride)
3:30 p.m. - arrive at Forks
    Option 1: 1 mi hike to Moxie Falls with Barry Dana, Andre Pied
    Option 2: stroll Old Canada Road with George Pratt, Bob Haynes
    Option 3: guided pontoon trip on Kennebec River
5:30 p.m. - arrive Lakeside Resort, Caratunk
6:30 p.m. - logging camp dinner at Lakeside Pavillon
8:00 p.m. - screening of "Dead River Rough Cut" followed by discussion at Lakeside Base Lodge
Sunday 10/7
7:00 a.m. - breakfast at Lakeside Resort with Guides
9:00 a.m. - depart Caratunk
9:30 a.m. - Wyman Dam Tour
11:30 a.m. - visit South Solon Meeting House to view frescos
12:30 p.m. - visit and lunch at Margaret Chase Smith Library, Skowhegan
2:30 p.m. - Empire Grill, Skowhegan for dessert
3:45 p.m. - visit L.C Bates Museum, Hinkley
5:30 p.m. - guided (bilingual) walking tour through Waterville’s ‘Down the Plains’.
7:00 p.m. - Lebanese Dinner at St. Joseph Church
9:30 p.m. - arrive Senator Inn, Augusta
Monday 10/8
7:30 a.m. - breakfast at Calumet Club
9:15 a.m. - visit Old Fort Western visit presentation on Benedict Arnold
10:45 a.m. - view Hallowell Gateway
11:45 a.m. - visit Maine Maritime Museum
12:15 p.m. - lunch
1:00 p.m. - Option 1: Kennebec River boat trip
Option 2: Bath Iron Works Tour
Option 3: Boatbuilding demonstration
Option 4: Artist talk
3:00 p.m. - departure
